During the last two decades, a decline in the learning teaching processes in schools in Jaffna district has occurred gradually due to the existing conflict situation. It has also had a negative impact in the activities of pre-schools in the district. The contribution factors have been periodic displacements, lack of physical resources, lack of proper training for pre –school teachers and want of a structure for pre-school education. It is worth a submitting that there hasn’t been much guidance or support from either Central or Provincial Ministry of Education. The pre-school development unit of the Zonal education Office, Jaffna will work really hard to achieve its objectives with whatever support is extended.
The recently established pre-school education unit has provided training to pre-school teachers on identified areas with assistance from NGOO. It may be modestly claimed that capable resource persons have been available to us always.
There are about 1600 teachers in 750 pre schools in Jaffna District. Up to today proper curriculum guidance book not available. In the international level there are many new curriculum methods are introduced to pre-schools. At the moment we would to like added and introduce new curriculum for pre-schools.
