A ceremonial event was held on last Monday the 4th July 2007 at 10 am in the “JEBA” hall of Caritas-Hudec, chaired by the Director Rev. Fr. C.G.Jayakumar. Six children with the special seating at the cost of Rs 12000.00 each and one child with the triangular shaped seating at the cost of Rs 4000.00 was given in this occasion. Rt. Rev. Dr. Thomas Savundranayagam Catholic Bishop of Jaffna was the chief guest and Dr.Gnanajothy Director Jaffna Teaching hospital and Dr. Maruthanar were the special guests on this event. This special project is being implemented in collaboration of Caritas –Hudec and Community Occupational Therapy Services through DPDHS. About 45 children were identified so far. Among them it is planned to give for 25 children on priority basis during this year. Mr. Ganeshalingam Occupational Therapist of Jaffna Teaching Hospital in his address said, that this special seating is a treatment to provide body balance and independent function.
