“It is must to provide quality inputs to the children at right time. It will contribute much in their growth and development” said by the educational sector at a need assesment meeting which was held this month at the department of Education Jaffna. The following needs were highlighted.
· Need of additional assistance for disable and special educational activities.
· Some pre school have to be assisted and pre school teachers should be trained
· ICT programme will be a good idea and it will help to the students who take ICT as a subject at schools.
· Vocational training is requested for disable + School leaving students. Department non formal education unit will assist to do the programme.
· More students from remote villages are coming to school with out any educational materials. Their health condition also is very poor and the school based health services also are very limited.
· Awareness on education is main needs at this time. Parents and children should be aware on this. A short film was produced by the new Director of Education Jaffna to accomplish this task

It was planed during the visit to cover some areas with the financial aid of CHA
